Wyze cam has lots of features but currently, some users reported that they are facing an error called error code 90. They can’t connect to the live stream on the app due to some network error. In this post, we’ll explain the reason for Wyze camera error code 90 and how to fix this error code on your device

Steps to fix error code 90 on Wyze Camera

Reboot/Restart your camera and smartphone

To fix this issue the first thing you need to do is to restart your Wyze camera and smartphone. After rebooting, connect your Wyze cam via Wyze cam app to your smartphone. Now check if the error code 90 on the Wyze camera is resolved.

Verify USB Connection

Check if the USB cable is properly connected to the Wyze cable, if it is loose then you can face the Wyze error code 90. You need to take your USB cable out from the cam’s port and put it back in the port properly to connectivity issues on the Wyze camera. 

Use Original Wyze Cable to Fix error code 90

Some users use the third party in place of the Wyze camera original cable which can lead to Wyze camera error code 90. Reduce the distance and remove all obstacles 

Check your router and your Wyze cam distance, if your Wyze cam is far from your router, then maybe your signal could be weak and your Wyze cam starts displaying error code 90.

To fix this issue, reduce your router distance from your Wyze cam. And, place your router at a maximum 100m radius. But remove all the obstacles that come between your Wyze cam and router. Sometimes obstacles block the signal reduce internet connectivity strength.

Router’s firewall

The router’s firewall can block the communication between your Wyze cam. To fix this issue you need to change the rules of the firewall on your router or contact your internet service provider to make changes in the wifi router firewall.

Change router’s channel 

If you want to improve your router’s signals, change your router channels to 1, 6, or 11. Because Wyze cam works fine with the 2.64GHz frequency. 1, 6, or 11 is a good option because these are the only non-overlapping channels in the 2.64GHz frequency band. Follow the steps below to change your wifi channel:

  1. Open your router’s URL in a web browser. 
  2. Log-in to router
  3. Now click on wireless and then wireless settings.
  4. In the channel width select 1, 6, or 11 and click on save.
  5. Restart your router.

Tip: If you’re facing error code 90 after a recent firmware update, then try rebooting your device and leave it for some time. After sometime try using it to see if the error code 90 is fixed. Manually update Firmware on Wyze Camera

If you’re facing the issue after the recent firmware update then you can manually flash other versions of firmware on your Wyze camera to fix the error code 90. To manually flash the firmware on your Wyze cam then follow the steps below:

For Wyze cam v1

  1. To download Wyze camera firmware go to this link and firmware according to the Wyze cam version
  2. In Windows right-click on the zip file and extract.
  3. Now copy the firmware file and paste it into the root directory of your sd card.
  4. If you’re on mac then after extraction rename the folder to FIRMWARE_660R_F.BIN and cut-paste it to sd card’s root directory
  5. Now turn off your camera
  6. Insert the memory card (MicroSD) card in your Wyze camera.
  7. Now press the hold setup button of Wyze camera and plug in the USB cable, press Wyze cam for 15 seconds, and then release
  8. Wait your Wyze cam will reboot in 5 minutes and you’ll see blinking yellow light which means your Wyze cam is ready for setup.
  9. When you see the yellow blinking light re-setup your Wyze camera.

This will most likely resolve the error code 90 on Wyze cam v1.

For Wyze cam version 2 and others
  1. Go to this link and download the Wyze camera firmware according to your cam version
  2. Extract the downloaded zip file on your pc.
  3. Rename the file to demo.bin and it to the root directory of the sd card.
  4. Turn off your Wyze cam and insert the MicroSD card in the Wyze camera.
  5. Hold the Wyze setup button and plug in the USB wire into the cam, keep holding the Wyze setup button for 3-6 seconds.
  6. Release the setup button when you see blue light.
  7. Note: You’ll see a mixture of yellow and blue light because of both of the indicators and on at the same time.
  8. Now the camera will reboot itself and change the light color. This process will take about 3-4 minutes.
  9. Now your camera is ready for use.

  1. Uninstall your Wyze app
  2. Open google play store and type Wyze app.

Factory reset Wyze cam v1/v2 or pan

Factory reset will delete your all camera saved files.

  1. First, remove the micro SD card from your Wyze cam.
  2. Remain your Wyze cam plugged in, on the bottom of your Wyze cam you’ll see the setup button.
  3. Press and hold the setup button for at least 10 seconds and if you’re using Wyze v1 then press and hold the button for 20seconds, and your camera starts resetting. 
  4. Wait for 30 seconds and sometimes this process takes up to 5 minutes.
  5. After a while, you’ll see the led light changing from solid yellow to blinking or flashing yellow. Now, your reset process is done and you are ready to set up your Wyze cam.

Contact Wyze customer support if you’re still getting this error code 90.
