Vizio Sound Bar Stuck In Demo Mode

Is your Vizio sound bar stuck in demo mode? Vizio sound bars are among the most trusted devices for audio quality. They provide a large selection of options and high-quality components. There can, however, be problems when you choose to buy a Vizio sound bar.

When your Vizio sound bar is stuck in demo mode, it will not play any audio. This means that you’re unable to use the speaker to play any music or videos because the player is still in demo mode. 

Also, some users are reporting that their Vizio sound bar has been stuck in Demo Mode for over two-three days now. They’ve spent the past couple of days researching how to fix this problem, but there is no clear answer about this demo mode issue. 

In this blog post, we will discuss what could be the causes of a stuck Vizio sound bar in demo mode and the solutions.

Why is my Vizio Sound Bar Stuck in Demo Mode?

Your Vizio Sound Bar may be in Demo/Store Mode if;

  • If your Vizio Sound Bar is not turning off.
  • A scrolling pattern is displayed on the LEDs on the Sound Bar sliding from bottom to top and back again
  • Or, factory reset is not changing the settings.

How Do I Get Out Of Demo Mode?

You can get out of demo mode by disabling/turning off the Demo mode from the SmartCast app, pressing the input and bluetooth buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds, downloading and updating the latest firmware on the sound bar, and resetting your sound bar to its default settings. 

Things you can try first;

If your Vizio sound bar is stuck on demo mode, there are a few things you can try to fix the issue. 

  • Try pressing and holding the power button for 10 seconds.
  • Or, try unplugging the sound bar from the AC outlet and then plugging it back in. 

Disable Demo Mode Using SmartCast App

If you’ve owned a SmartCast Sound Bar and it is stuck in Demo mode, then disable the demo/store mode using the SmartCast Mobile app. To do so;

  • Launch the SmartCast app and head to the System Menu.
  • Now, disable/turn off the Demo Mode.

Different Scenarios of Demo Mode

  • If you’re able to adjust the volume only.
  • If only USB content supports the options to start, fast forward, and increase and decrease volume.
  • You can only adjust the volume of content played through Analog RCA inputs (Red and White or headphone connection).

Scenario 1: Able to adjust the Volume only

If you’re able to adjust the volume of your Vizio Sound Bar, then follow the below-given steps;

  • Press and hold the Input and Bluetooth buttons together for at least 10 seconds.
  • Now, all the LEDs on your Sound Bar will flash four times.
    • If the LEDs on the Sound Bar flash once, then repeat the above steps to turn off the Demo Mode.
    • If the LEDs on Sound Bar do not flash, then you may be in the 2nd scenario. To get out of demo mode, move on to the next one.

Scenario 2: USB content supports the options to start, fast forward, and increase and decrease volume

  • Press and hold the Input and Volume Up buttons together for at least 10 seconds.
  • Now, all the LEDs on your Sound Bar will flash four times.
    • If the LEDs on the Sound Bar flash once, then repeat the above steps to turn off the Demo Mode.
    • If the LEDs on Sound Bar do not flash, then you may be in the 3rd scenario. To get out of demo mode, move on to the next one.

Scenario 3: You can only adjust the volume of content played through Analog RCA inputs (Red and White or headphone connection).

  • Press and hold the Input and Volume Down buttons for at least 10 seconds.
  • Now, all the LEDs on your Sound Bar will flash four times.
    • If the LEDs on the Sound Bar flash once, then repeat the above steps to turn off the Demo Mode.
    • If the LEDs on Sound Bar do not flash, then try following the next method.

Update Sound Bar’s Firmware

If your Vizio Sound Bar is still stuck in the Demo Mode, then try updating its firmware/software to the latest version. To update the sound bar’s firmware;

  • Visit Vizio.com Support page.
  • Now, enter your Vizio Sound Bar model number and enter or click on the Search button. If there’s an update available for your sound bar, it will appear in the list (stating Firmware Update).
  • Then, click on the Download button in the front of the Firmware option.
  • Once the update has been downloaded, head to the Download folder and save/move the file to the USB drive.

To install the firmware on the sound bar;

  • Turn on the SoundBar and, then disconnect the Sound Bar power cord from both ends.
  • After that, connect the USB drive to the Sound Bar that contains the Firmware update. 
  • Next, reconnect your Sound Bar power cord. Once the power cord is connected you’ll see 2 LED lights on the front of your Vizio Sound Bar.
  • Afterward, the first, third, and fourth LED lights will turn on/illuminate. This is indicating that the firmware update is in progress or started.
  • Remove the USB drive, once the LED lights are turned off. Do not remove the USB drive or unplug/turn off the Sound Bar until the update is downloaded. 

Now, check to see if the Sound Bar is in Home Mode. If it is still stuck in the Demo Mode, then the next step will help you out. 

Factory Reset your Sound Bar

Is your Sound Bar still stuck in the Demo Mode? In this scenario, try resetting your Sound Bar to its default settings. But, keep in mind, performing the factory reset will delete/erase all your saved preferences and settings. 

Here’s how to reset your Sound Bar;

  • Press and hold the Bluetooth and Volume down buttons for at least 5 seconds.
  • If all 8 LEDs flash 3 times, it means that your sound bar successfully resets to the default factory settings.
  • After resetting the sound bar, set it up again and check if this brings your Sound Bar to the Home mode.
