The export bookmark feature of chrome is really helpful for users. As it lets you get a backup file of all the chrome bookmarks locally on your system. So if in the future you decide to switch desktop you can restore this backup file on the newly installed chrome. You’ll have all the bookmarked from the previous chrome browser on your new chrome browser. This process works for both windows and mac but not for the mobile chrome app.

Steps to Backup Chrome Bookmarks
Follow these steps below to back chrome bookmarks:
- Open your chrome browser.
- Click on the three dots from the top right corner of the screen.



- Now hover your arrow above bookmarks
- Now from the options on the left side click on Bookmark manager. You can also use a shortcut by pressing the ctrl+shift+O button.



- Click on the three dots from the top right corner



- From the drop-down click on export bookmarks.



- Select your desired location to save the backup of chrome bookmarks on your system locally and click on save.



Note: The format of the backup is .html so you can only use or open it with the help of chrome browser
How to Restore the Backup of Chrome Bookmarks
To restore the backup of bookmarks on your new Chrome browser follow the steps mentioned below
- Open your chrome browser.
- Click on the three dots from the top right corner of the screen.
- Hover over the bookmarks option and now from the left side option click on import bookmarks and setting options.



- Click on the Microsoft internet explorer option and from the drop-down menu select Bookmarks HTML file



- click on the choose file blue button



- Select the chrome bookmarks file from your desktop storage



You’ll now see a block correct sign with a message “Your bookmarks and settings are ready“. Click on done

- Open your chrome browser
- Now press ctrl+shift+O this will open the bookmark manager
- Click on the three dots available on the top right corner of the screen.



- Click on the import bookmarks options



- Now select the chrome bookmark backup HTML file from your system and click open



- On the left side of your screen, you’ll see a folder icon with the name imported and inside that bookmarks bar file. The bookmarks bar is the file that you’ve restored on the chrome. Now you can use your bookmarks from the previous chrome on this new chrome browser.
