How to Fix HBO Max Stuck on Loading Screen?

Is your HBO Max getting stuck on loading screen, HBO Max purple screen, or the welcome startup screen? Then don’t worry this is an issue faced by many HBO Max users.

Fortunately, this issue is resolved most of the time with a simple reboot of your device.

The main cause of the issue is a corrupted cache or a slow internet connection.

In this post, we’re going to discuss how you can fix if HBO Max is stuck on the purple loading screen.

Fix HBO Max stuck on loading circle (Smart tv)

HBO Max stuck on loading screen? Well it can be fixed by performing the power cycle on your Smart TV, clearing the cache and data of HBO Max app, reinstalling the HBO Max on your device, or updating the device firmware to its latest version. 

Power Cycle your Smart TV

The power cycle will eliminate any temporary glitch causing the issue. After the power cycle, the HBO Max not loading issue will resolve on your smart tv.

1. Turn off your Smart TV and unplug it.
2. Now, press and hold the Power button on your Smart TV for 10-20 seconds.
3. Now, unplug your router from the power socket.
4. Wait for 10 minutes. 
5. Now, plug in your router and turn it on.
6. Turn on your Smart TV.
7. Connect your Smart TV to Wi-Fi and check if the issue is resolved or not.

Or

Try unplugging your Smart TV (Samsung , LG, or other) from the wall outlet and leave it unplugged overnight. And, plug the TV cord back into the wall outlet next day.

Tip: Go to downdetector and check if HBO Max server are working properly or not. If HBO Max is down, then you can get stuck on the loading screen. If downdetector is not showing any issue, then you can proceed with the fixes.

Remove and Reinstall HBO Max

If you’re still stuck on the purple welcome screen on HBO Max then this second fix will resolve the issue. You need to remove the HBO Max from your streaming device and reinstall it for fixing this issue.

1. Uninstall HBO Max from your smart streaming device.
2. Now, reboot your device.
3. Install the latest version of HBO Max on your device.
4. Login to your account.

Now, check if you’re able to get past the welcome screen on HBO Max or not. 

Tip: Make sure that your device is connected to the internet. Check internet speed on speedtest.net and make sure that you’ve enough speed for streaming content on HBO max. You can check connectivity by playing a youtube video. If the video is not playing then contact your internet service provider. You can use a wired connection for better speed and connectivity.

Update Your Device Firmware

• Go to the Settings of your device.
• Then check and update your device firmware.
• After that, update HBO Max application and restart your device.
• Launch HBO Max on your streaming device and check if the issue is resolved or not. 

Tip: Try Force closing the HBO Max app. Completely close the HBO Max on your device and restart your device. Now, launch HBO Max and check if you’re still getting stuck on the loading screen or not.

Fix HBO Max Stuck on Loading Screen on Roku

If HBO Max is getting stuck on the welcome or purple screen on your Roku TV, then your can try restarting your Roku device by following the steps below:

1. Go to the Settings.
2. Now, navigate to System.
3. And, then select System restart.

When the Roku is booted up, launch HBO Max and check if it is working or not. If you’re still facing the issue, then follow the steps below to clear the cache on Roku for fixing the issue.

Press the following button combination on your Roku remote for clearing the cache. 

Press the Home button 5 times, press Up, then Rewind 2 times, then Fast Forward 2 times. Now your TV will reboot in a couple of seconds.

When the TV turns on, launch HBO Max and checks if the issue is resolved or not.

Fix HBO max not loading on firestick

If you’re getting stuck on the HBO Max purple welcome screen on firestick then you need to clear the cache and data of the app on your Firestick or Fire TV. After clearing the cache and data the issue will be resolved.

1. Go to Settings on your Firestick or Fire TV.
2. Select the Applications option.
3. Select the Manage installed application option.
4. Locate and select HBO Max from the list.
5. First press Force stop.
6. Now, select Clear cache, then select Clear data.

Restart your device

If you’re stuck on the loading screen while using HBO Max on your Android or iOS device. Then first try rebooting your smartphone. After rebooting, launch HBO Max and check if HBO Max is working or not.

Clear app cache and data

On Android,

• Head to Settings, then select Applications.
• Now, locate HBO Max from the list.
• And, then tap on Clear data and cache and restart your smartphone.

On iOS, you need to delete the HBO Max app and, then reinstall it on your iOS device.

Update/reinstall HBO Max

For Android users;

• Head to the HBO Max app icon and, tap and hold it.
• Now, tap on Uninstall.
• After that, navigate to the Play Store and reinstall the HBO Max on your device.

For iOS users;

• Head to the HBO Max app icon and, tap and hold it.
• Now, tap on Remove app and, then tap on Delete App.
• After that, head to the App Store and install the HBO Max app.
