Vizio TV Keeps Disconnecting From Wi-Fi – Fixed!

If your Vizio TV keeps disconnecting from Wi-Fi, this may be the most frustrating problem you’ll encounter as a Vizio customer. You want to enjoy high-quality streaming, viewing content, and navigation within your home — but too many times, your smart TV loses the connection to Wi-Fi and won’t work properly. 

There are many reasons why this could happen, but in this blog post, we’re going to show you how you can fix it.

How To Fix Vizio TV Keeps Disconnecting From Wi-Fi?

You can fix Vizio TV keeps disconnecting from Wi-Fi by changing the Router’s location, enabling DHCP settings, rebooting your internet devices, changing the security settings, or connecting your Vizio TV with an ethernet cable.  

Check your Wi-Fi Network

It might be your Wi-Fi that is having some issues. So, in that case, you need to verify whether your Wi-Fi connection is working properly. 

To check this, open a web page on another device connected to your internet (such as a computer, tablet, gaming system, or another smart TV). 

If you experience the same connectivity issue, then the issue most likely lies with your internet connection.  

To fix this, try troubleshooting your Router and modem or call your ISP and ask them to resolve the issue asap.

If everything is working fine, then it’s your Vizio TV that’s having some issues connecting to your Wi-Fi. 

Relocate your Router

If your Vizio TV is still disconnecting from Wi-Fi, then there’s a possibility that your Vizio TV keeps on disconnecting due to weak signals.

In this case, you need to relocate your router position (if your Router is placed far from the Vizio TV). And you need to ensure that you’ve placed the Router near your Vizio TV and there are no obstacles near your Router. 

Enable DHCP Settings

DHCP stands for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, a network management protocol that uses the Router’s IP address to assign IP addresses to connected devices.

DHCP is typically switched off because most users prefer a large number of devices sharing a single network rather than exclusivity.

So, try turning it on;

  • Press the Menu button on your Vizio TV remote.
  • Now, navigate to Network> Manual Setup > DHCP.
  • After that, turn on the DHCP. 
  • If it’s already turned on, turn it off and on again.

Avoid Wireless Signal Interference

Inspect the other electronic devices which can cause interference with the Router. We will give you a list of some devices which can cause interference with the Network:

  • Microwave, 
  • Thick walls,
  • Walkie-talkies and other radio devices,
  • Bluetooth-enabled headphones, earphones, and other devices,
  • Neighbor network.

Note: If you find any of these things interfering with your Wi-Fi network mentioned above. Try to fix or relocate these items.

Restart your Devices

Restarting the Wi-Fi router and Vizio TV can solve this issue. Here’s how you can restart these devices:

For Wi-Fi Router;

Restarting the Wi-Fi router can rectify these issues. In restarting the minor bugs, connectivity issues can be solved. 

Also, restarting the Wi-Fi router wipes the unwanted connected devices from the Network.

Follow these simple instructions mentioned below to restart your Wi-Fi router.

  • First, turn off and unplug the adapter of the Router 
  • Now, wait for a minute.
  • Plug back in the Router back in the power source.
  • Once the Router is successfully rebooted, check if Sky Q is connecting with the Router. 

For Vizio TV;

  • Use the Vizio remote to turn off the TV.
  • Now, turn on the TV using the power button on the remote.

Note: If your remote isn’t working, don’t worry, you can use the physical buttons presented at the back of the TV, or you can download the Vizio SmartCast app > Devices > Add. Once pairing is done, select Control > Devices > Press on the power button.

Turn ON WPA-PSK [TKIP]

If restarting the Router didn’t work for you, try enabling your Router’s WPA-PSK [TKIP] security setting.

To enable the WPA-PSK, head to the Router’s Settings > Security and enable the WPA-PSK [TKIP] mode.

Use Ethernet/Wired Connection

If you’re still having trouble connecting your Vizio TV to your Router, one possible solution is to use an Ethernet cable. This will ensure that your connection is stable and should fix any issues you’re having.

Because an Ethernet cable is more secure than a Wi-Fi connection, the transfer rate of data packets on the ethernet cable is more than a wireless Wi-Fi network.

Also, a Wi-Fi network will be interrupted by other devices’ signals. Hence it will affect the overall download/upload speeds. 

Avoid Guest Mode

Guest mode on a router allows you to create a guest network with another device. However, the connectivity in this mode is neither stable nor faster. 

To check whether your Vizio TV is connected to the guest network or not, 

  • Head to Settings > Wireless Network Settings. If the guest connection is available on your TV, then this is why your TV is disconnecting.
  • To disable it, head to your Router’s Settings > Disable the guest network > Save the settings.

Reset Your Vizio TV

Is your Vizio TV still disconnecting from Wi-Fi? In this case, try resetting your Vizio TV to its factory default settings.

Resetting the Vizio TV is one of the most effective ways to resolve such issues. But performing the factory reset will delete all your saved preferences, settings, and data from the Vizio TV. 

To factory reset your Vizio TV;

  • Press the Menu button on your remote.
  • Now, highlight and then select System/Help.
  • Then, scroll to the Reset and Admin option.
  • Afterward, select Reset TV to Factory Defaults and then enter the Code (Default code is 0000).

Or;

  • Hold down the Input and Volume Down buttons simultaneously until you see a pop-up.
  • After that, hold the Input button to start the reset process.
