How to Fix Play Store Stuck on Installing

Recently I was trying to install Spotify on my android phone. After completing of download I noticed that the app was stuck on installing. I canceled and tried the download again, but the play store got stuck on installing. Now, this was becoming frustrating for me. I tried redownloading a couple of times but that didn’t work for me.

Then I decided to google this issue, and after searching I found that too many people are faced with and have faced this issue in the past. After searching for about 15-20 mins I was able to fix the play store stuck on installing issue.

In this post, I’m going to share the steps that helped me in fixing the play store stuck on installing issue.

Why is Play Store Stuck on Installing?

Your apps download on play store can stuck on installing due to one of the reasons mentioned below.

  • Network issue.
  • Download speed slow.
  • Corrupted cached data.
  • Corrupted app data.
  • Outage.
  • Storage issue.

Now that we know the reason for app stuck on installing issue on play store we can now proceed with the troubleshooting steps.

How do I stop an Android app from being stuck installing?

Check Your Internet Connection

If your internet connection is weak or not working, then play store app can stuck on installing. But don’t worry you can easily fix this issue by fixing your internet connection. Below I’ve shared some fixes for your internet.

  1. Check your internet speed at speedtest.net and make sure you’ve internet speed for downloading or installing app.
  2. If you are using mobile internet then try using wifi connection for installing the app. If you are using wifi, then use your mobile internet connection for downloading app.
  3. If you don’t have wifi nearby, then make sure your mobile have stable and strong internet connection.
  4. Unplug your router from the power and wait for 10 minutes. Now plug in your router and try using the wifi for downloading app through play store.

Restart Your Phone

If your play store app download is still stuck on pending, then you try restarting your device. Some users reported that they were able to fix play store stuck on installing issue by rebooting their device. Turn off your phone and wait for 5 minutes, now turn on your device and try downloading the app again. Now you’ll be able to download apps on your device.

If you are still facing the issue, the close the play store app and launch the play store again. Now check if the play store app stuck on installing issue is resolved.

Clear Cache and Data of Play Store Services

You can also fix play store stuck on installing issue by clearing the cache and data of play store services app. To clear the cache and data of play services you can follow the steps below.

  1. Go to your device settings.
  2. Go to apps and notifications.
  3. Locate all apps.
  4. Locate and select google play services.
  5. Force stop the app.
  6. Go to storage option.
  7. Now clear the cache and data of the google play services.

Now you’ll be able to download and install the apps using the google play store.

Uninstall Play Store Updates

You can also fix play store stuck on installing app issue by uninstalling the play store updates. Uninstalling the play store updates is very easy. You can follow the steps below-

  1. Tap and hold the play store icon.
  2. Now click on app info.
  3. Click on the three dots.
  4. Click on uninstall updates.
  5. Tap ok for confirmation.

After uninstalling the play store updates, check if you’re able to install app on your device.

Tip: Disable or remove vpn if you are using one. After disabling or removing the vpn you’ll be able to download and install apps from play store.

Clear Cache and data of play store

Clearing the cache and data of google play store apps can fix the apps stuck on installing issue. You can easily clear the cache and data of google play store by following the steps below.

  1. Go to settings.
  2. Select apps option.
  3. Now locate and tap on google play store.
  4. Force stop the google play store.
  5. Go to storage.
  6. Now clear cache and data.

Now launch the play store and you’ll be able to install apps on your device.

If the play store stuck on installing issue persists, then you can try clearing the cache and data of the download manager app. You can clear the cache of the download manager by following steps-

  1. Go to settings.
  2. Select apps.
  3. Locate and select download manager.
  4. Force stop it.
  5. Go to storage.
  6. Clear the cache and data.

Try downloading and installing the apps using the google play store.

Remove and Re-add Your Google Account

Some users were able to fix play store stuck on installing issue by removing and re-adding their google account. You can re-add google account by following the steps below.

  1. Go to your device settings.
  2. Now locate and open passwords and accounts/Users and accounts option.
  3. Locate and select the account you want to remove.
  4. Now tap on remove account.
  5. Restart your phone.
  6. Now re-add the account.

Now you’ll be able to download and install apps without any issues.
