Set your device to default communication device

This is the best way to troubleshoot this issue, setting your headphones as the default communication device will solve your issue. However, these settings are not available on Discord but can be done from your PC settings. You have to set your audio device to the default device as well as the default communication device.

To set you device as default device and communication device follow these steps:

  1. Right-click the speaker icon from the taskbar at the bottom right corner and select Sounds.

  2. Right-click onyour device name (headphones or speaker) and select Set as Default Device.
  3.  Right-click on your device name again and select Set as Default Communication Device.
  4. Click on Apply and select OK.

Enable Legacy Audio Subsystem

If you tried above troubleshooting and you are still facing the same issue then there might be a compatibility issue with your device with discord. It means that Discord’s latest audio subsystem is not compatible with your hardware components. Do not worry as this can be resolved by enabling the Legacy Audio subsystem.

 Here are the steps that you need to follow to use the Legacy Audio Subsystem:

  1. Launch Discord App
  2. Go to the User Settings (gear icon). It will be under the server channel at the right side of your avatar
